What brand and model of garage doors do you have and how well does it function?

Are you familiar with Wayne Dalton, CHI, or Amarr brand of garage doors? We are shopping for a new door or even new panels.

1. Okay, this may sound like a sales pitch but please don't take it that way - afterall, you probably won't be buying your doors from our company since you may be in another state, right? We've been in the door business for quite some time (over 30 years) and I can tell you assuredly that C.H.I. doors are far better than any brand we have used through the years. C.H.I. is the brand we sell (and have now for about 12 years) but that isn't why I say this. Although I won't name brands specifically, I will say that we have pretty much either sold/installed or worked on/repaired practically every brand available today - and some that aren't anymore. C.H.I. by far surpasses the majority in quality and customer service. We have never had an issue with any warranty requests that may emerge (although they are rare) and service truly is like clockwork. Factory lead time is two weeks on most models if they have to be ordered - never more, never less. C.H.I. is an Amish-owned company. Through the years they have gradually expanded their capabilities to manufacturing more and more of the door components - not just the door panels as many companies do. This is a move solely to give them more control over the product's overall quality. A couple other quick notes: 1) many of their standard models use commercial grade hardware instead of the cheaper/thinner stuff you find on most residential models 2) all of their door models are a full 2" thick - not so with a couple you mentioned ;-) 3) raised panel template provides a deeper panel press which creates a nicer looking raised effect - not as shallow looking as other brands can be Hope this helps you a little bit. 2. I have been installing garage doors for some years now and have been with some companies I recommend that you stay away from Wayne Dalton because the quality is really cheap and if you mess up the insulation on it you have to replace the whole panel, I don't know CHI , and it will cost you more to replace panels than a whole new door plus with a new door you get your warranty, also stay away from Clopay since it is really cheap, overhead brand has PLASTIC hinges, and Americas door is like Amarr old model, Windsor door makes too much noice and the spring breaks really fast, so I think your best option is the Amarr but ask for the heritage not the Stanford since its really thin.
3. I have to agree with Adam. What I have seen of Wayne Dalton, especially recently, the quality of the door has went to pot. Light weight hinges, rollers, ect. I would also stay away from Amarr. I have worked on several Amarr doors and every time a spring breaks on one, we weigh the door. For some reason Amarr doors do not balance out correctly with the springs they send. CHI is the best out there. Almost all their doors (cept the really cheap models) come with heavy duty commercial hardware and rollers. The quality is just so much better.
