I live in Los Angeles, can my apt. manager force me to move my stuff out of my storage?
Upon move in, she said it is ok to use the storage above my assigned parking space. Everyone in the complex has such a storage. Now she has posted signs on everyones storage and apt. door saying the storages must be empty by a certain date. Is this legal, also one garage is occupied by a painter who has all types of paint and other materials hanging form the walls and ceiling. I dont think she gave him notice. PLEASE CITE LAWS regarding your anwers because I want to see if I have any legal backing on this issue.

- IF SHE CAN DO THAT, SHE HAS TO GIVE ATLEAST A 30 DAYS NOTICE, ATLEAST.
- She is a manager not the owner. get the owners name and find out why they are changing the rules. It seems wrong to take away storage from occupants most people have too much stuff and need extra space. In the meantime move your stuff into a regular storage place its probably safer there until you get this thing resolved.
- See website below. If you learn to do your own research, you will be able to better protect yourself.
- Read your lease. Does it say that you will have use of this area? If it doesn't specify that you have use of this storage area, yes she can do this. However, if it is included in the lease, then you might want to check with a local organization that deals with rental disputes. We have one in our area called the Housing Council, but not sure what else it might be called.

- If your lease permits you to store stuff there, she can't ask you to move it. If the lease doesn't permit you to store stuff there, you can't. It's not a matter of the law, it's a matter of your lease, it's that simple.
